How much does mobile app development cost?

Most app quotes are an hourly rate and a wide range. These are the flat prices we charge in US dollars for a native iOS and Android build, and the factors that decide which bracket a project lands in.

The short answer

A custom web app with logins, dashboards and real data starts around $4,300 USD, and a native iOS and Android app published under your own developer accounts starts around $7,200 USD. Both are flat quotes including design, build, domain, hosting, SSL and backups for the first 12 months. Straightforward internal tools sit at the lower end; marketplaces and apps with in-app payments sit higher.

App package pricing in USD

Web App and Native Mobile are the two packages that cover application builds. USD is our base currency; prices are shown before any local tax or VAT.

What moves an app quote

Number of screens and flows

A booking app with five screens is a very different build to a marketplace with buyer, seller and admin flows. Screens are the clearest predictor of an app quote in USD.

Accounts, roles and permissions

Sign-up, password reset, social login, roles and an admin view all have to be designed, built and tested. This is included in the Web App and Native Mobile packages rather than billed hourly.

Payments inside the app

Taking card or wallet payments in-app adds checkout, receipts, refunds and store commission rules. It is one of the largest single cost steps.

Push notifications and offline use

Push messaging and working without a signal need extra infrastructure and device testing. Both are included in the Native Mobile package.

Integrations

Connecting to a POS, CRM, delivery partner, maps or accounting system adds work per integration. Three integrations are included; extra ones are quoted flat.

App Store and Play Store submission

Store listings, screenshots, privacy declarations and review responses are handled for you. Apple and Google charge their own developer fees, listed below.

How the timeline breaks down

A native app is typically live in both stores within 6–10 weeks. Here is where that time goes.

  1. Week 1 — scope and screens

Every screen and flow is mapped, the feature list agreed, and the price locked before design starts.

  2. Weeks 2–3 — design

You approve the real iOS and Android interface before any code is written.

  3. Weeks 3–7 — build

Weekly builds you can install on your own device, with accounts, data and notifications wired in.

  4. Weeks 7–9 — testing and store review

Device testing, then App Store and Play Store submission handled for you, review responses included.

  5. Weeks 9–10 — launch and handover

Marketing landing page live, documentation delivered, and 90 days of post-launch support begins.

Web app or native app — which do you actually need?

If people will use it on a laptop, sign in, and mostly work with lists, records and reports, a web app is faster and cheaper to build and still works well on a phone. Choose native when you need a home-screen icon, push notifications, camera or location access, offline use, or a listing in the App Store and Play Store. Launching the web app first and adding native once usage proves the idea is a common, lower-risk sequence.

Ongoing costs after launch

Apple charges $99 USD a year for an Apple Developer account and Google charges a one-time $25 USD Play Console fee — both accounts stay in your name. Backend hosting, SSL and backups are free for the first 12 months and then renew yearly at the rate shown below. A Care Plan is optional and covers updates, monitoring and small edits each month.

Domain + hosting are free for the first 12 months. From year two they renew at $148 USD / year (domain $19 + hosting, SSL & backups $129). Cancel any time — no lock-in.

Common app cost questions

How much does it cost to build a mobile app?

A custom web app starts around $4,300 USD and a native iOS and Android app starts around $7,200 USD as a flat quote covering design, build, hosting and store submission. Apps with in-app payments or several integrations are quoted above that, always in writing before work starts.

Do you charge hourly for app development?

No. One flat price for the agreed scope, settled before work starts, with any scope change quoted in writing first.

Do I own the app and the developer accounts?

Yes. The app ships under your own Apple and Google developer accounts and you receive the source code at handover.

Are App Store and Play Store fees included?

The submission work is included. Apple's yearly developer fee and Google's one-time Play Console fee are paid by you directly so the accounts remain in your name.

Can one app cover both iPhone and Android?

Yes. Both platforms are built from a single codebase, which is why a two-platform app costs far less than two separate builds.

How long until my app is in the stores?

Typically 6–10 weeks from kickoff, including store review. Rush delivery roughly halves the schedule for an extra 35%.
