How much does a custom website cost in Canada?
Most Canadian agencies answer this with “it depends” and an hourly rate. Here are the actual numbers we quote, in Canadian dollars, with what is included and what pushes a project into the next bracket.
The short answer
For a Canadian small business, a custom website costs roughly $900–$1,900 CAD for a one-page or small brochure site, $1,900–$3,500 CAD for a full multi-page business site, and $3,500–$6,000 CAD for an online store. Custom web applications with logins and dashboards start around $6,000 CAD, and a native iOS and Android app starts around $9,800 CAD. Every one of those figures includes the domain, hosting and SSL for the first 12 months.

What moves the price
Number of pages and screens
A single sales page costs far less than an eight-page site. Every extra custom page beyond your package is quoted at one flat rate, so the total never drifts once it is written down in CAD.
Whether you take payments
Adding a real checkout means products, inventory, shipping rules, receipts and refund handling. That is the jump between a brochure site and a store, and it is the single biggest price step for most businesses.
Logins, dashboards and data
The moment users need accounts, roles and saved records you are building an application, not a website: a database, an admin panel and reporting all have to be designed and tested.
Native mobile vs mobile-friendly
Every build is mobile-friendly. A native app in the App Store and Play Store is a separate product with store review, push notifications and offline handling — priced accordingly.
Content and branding readiness
If copy, photos and a logo already exist, the build moves faster. If they do not, copywriting and a brand kit are add-ons rather than hidden hourly time.
Timeline
Standard timelines are included. Compressing a build to roughly half its normal schedule adds 35%, because it means reserved capacity rather than a queue slot.
Optional extras and what they cost
These are quoted separately so you only pay for what you use. Nothing here is required to launch.
| Add-on | What it covers | Price (CAD) |
|---|---|---|
| Care Plan | Updates, backups, monitoring and small edits every month. | $82 / mo |
| Extra page | Any additional custom page, designed and written. | $180 |
| Logo & brand kit | Logo suite, colours, type and social templates. | $460 |
| AI assistant | A chatbot trained on your business, on your site. | $690 |
| Migration | Move an existing site or store over with zero downtime. | $400 |
| Rush delivery | We shorten the timeline by roughly half. | +35% |
Year two and beyond
Domain + hosting are free for the first 12 months. From year two they renew at $210 CAD / year (domain $26 + hosting, SSL & backups $180). Cancel any time — no lock-in.
Why the cheapest quote usually costs more
A $400 template site is real, and so is what comes after it: hosting billed separately, a domain registered in someone else’s name, no source code, and a new quote for every edit. When you compare Canadian quotes, ask three questions — is the domain in my name, do I get the source code, and what is the total for the first two years? That is where a low headline price usually catches up with you.
Common cost questions from Canadian clients
Is GST or HST included in these prices?
No. Prices are shown before tax; the applicable GST, HST or PST for your province is calculated at checkout.
Do you charge by the hour?
No. You get one flat quoted price before work starts. If the scope genuinely changes, we quote the change in writing before building it.
Can I pay in stages?
Yes. A deposit at checkout with the balance on launch is standard, and larger builds can be split into three milestones.
Is the domain really included in the price?
Yes — one domain registered in your name, plus hosting and an SSL certificate, free for the first 12 months. From year two there is a single yearly renewal shown below.
How long does a custom website take in Canada?
A one-page site is typically live in 5–7 days, a multi-page business site in 2–3 weeks, a store in 3–4 weeks, and a native mobile app in 6–10 weeks.
